Traffic Ticket Lawyers & Paralegals in Deep River, ON
The Deep River Court is located at 100 Deep River Road. This court is a satellite court of Pembroke, and all administrative matters, including responding to your ticket, are addressed at the Pembroke Court.
What is a satellite court?
A satellite court provides selected and limited court services in conjunction with a main court office. The main court office for Deep River is Pembroke Court. The Deep River court office provides facilities for court appearances. If your traffic ticket ICON is 3760 (located on the top left corner of the ticket), your matter may be heard in Pembroke, Killaloe, Renfrew or Deep River. Once a response to the traffic ticket is made, the main court will assign the ticket to the appropriate courthouse according to the location of the alleged offence. Since the court location is determined by the location of the offence, you are not able to request that your matter be heard in a different court location.
What types of tickets qualify as traffic tickets?
Any charge(s) you receive under the Highway Traffic Act or Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act qualify as traffic tickets. The police may also issue you a traffic-related ticket under a different act. Each charge, no matter what act it’s under, has a set of penalties and insurance implications. There are often different penalties for different types of drivers. For example, a ticket issued to a fully licensed G class driver may have different consequences than the same ticket issued to a novice or G2 class license holder. It is always a good idea to determine what the penalties are specific to the class of license you hold before paying a ticket. If your traffic offence is issued on a Summons, there will be a court date so the court can assess the penalties.
There are ranges of penalties for offences issued on a summons, and the court will often advise you to get legal advice before entering a plea to your charges. We can review the penalties with you during a free consultation. You may also be charged with a criminal offence related to driving, such as Dangerous Driving. A criminal charge is handled at the Ontario Court of Justice in the respective city. Our office can assist with many of these types of traffic-related charges as well.
Does OTD Legal only fight traffic tickets?
Though we specialize in traffic ticket defence, we also have an equal amount of experience fighting all Provincial Offences Act matters, including matters under the Trespass to Property Act, Cannabis Control Act, Liquor License and Control Act, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, and a multitude of other acts. As indicated above, you may also receive a charge under the Criminal Code of Canada. If your ticket or summons is not issued under any of these acts, call our office to determine if we can assist with your matter. We will review your paperwork and inform you of the penalties and possible outcomes, as well as provide you a quote to retain our services. These consultations are free and there is no obligation to retain us.
I received a traffic ticket. What do I do now?
Call OTD Legal for the next steps. Our usual practice is to have you send in a copy of the ticket or summons so we can review the paperwork and provide accurate information about the charge and consequences you are facing. The consultation can be done over the phone and takes approximately 15-30 minutes, depending on the severity of the charge, the questions you have, and what took place during the traffic stop.
