OTD Ticket Defenders Legal Services is seeking a licensed paralegal litigator to join our Cambridge team.

  • Full Time Position
  • $55,000–$75,000 a year
  • Cambridge Office: 240 Holiday Inn Drive, Cambridge, ON
  • Monday to Friday | 9am – 5pm

 

OTD Ticket Defenders Legal Services Professional Corporation is an industry leading paralegal firm specializing in traffic & minor criminal offences. OTD Legal was founded by Ron Harper, a retired Provincial and Municipal Prosecutor, who practised throughout Ontario. After 20 years of public service, Ron left for private practice founding one of the most successful paralegal practices in Ontario. Now, with over 40 years of experience, it would be difficult to imagine a more experienced firm.

Qualifications:

Applicant must be in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario and have a valid driver’s licence with reliable transportation. The ideal candidate has excellent attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, strong written and verbal skills, is computer proficient, and a proven track record as a paralegal litigator.

Experience:

  • Licensed Paralegal: 2 years (required)
  • paralegal litigator: 1 year (required)

Responsibilities:

  • General job duties include (but are not limited to):
  • attendance at court for general appearances
  • plea dates
  • conduct trials
  • managing court lists (scheduling)
  • preparation for court including client meetings
  • case law research
  • witness interviews
  • resolution discussions with Crown/Prosecutors in person and by phone
  • occasional client intakes in person and by phone
  • reviewing and drafting legal documents
  • obtaining instructions from clients
  • reporting court results to clients (orally and in writing)
  • communication with other paralegal firms & agents

Additional Compensation: 

Medical/dental/vision benefits package, life insurance, E&O insurance, four weeks paid vacation, mileage/expenses stipend & LSO fees.

Job Type:

  • This is a full-time, in-person position (hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday) in Cambridge.‎
